Former NFL GM has huge praise for Packers QB Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love certainly convinced many people that he can be a leading quarterback in the NFL for years to come during the 2023-24 season. One former NFL general manager, however, thinks particularly highly of him.

In an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” Friday, former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said if he could start a franchise with any player, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is the only one he would select ahead of Love.

“I’ll put it to you this way. If we were drafting NFL players, I think you and I would agree, we’d take Patrick Mahomes No. 1. I’m taking Jordan Love No. 2,” Tannenbaum said. “I’ve really been thinking about this a lot. Who would you take before Jordan Love in terms of youth and ability? I think his future is limitless."

Tannenbaum wasn't done there, either.

“We’ve seen Jordan Love, in one year, show greatness. He was, over the last half of the season," he said, "arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. … You give me Jordan Love, I’m set for the next decade. High character, great ability, fully-baked and developed.”

There is no doubt that Love performed at a high level in 2023. He threw for 32 touchdowns and 4,159 yards and took the Green Bay Packers to the playoffs despite a 2-5 start. Whether that is enough to put him ahead of the likes of Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow is a matter of debate, but apparently not for Tannenbaum.

Love still has some things to correct, but he is aware of that and determined to make it happen. Maybe he will make Tannenbaum’s bullishness look very good in the years to come.
