The New York Jets made a major addition to their defense this offseason by acquiring edge-rusher Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional draft pick. It was a great deal on paper and should give the Jets' pass rush a massive boost.
The one problem so far from the Jets' perspective is Reddick has not been involved in any of the team's voluntary offseason programs. Perhaps even more concerning is that he has yet to speak with head coach Robert Saleh. Saleh confirmed that on Tuesday.

Reddick, who is set to earn $14.5 million during the 2024 season, is believed to be seeking a new contract. Given that contract situation, it is not at all surprising that he would be avoiding voluntary activities. It still seems a little strange to not even have any contact with the head coach.
It is also the type of thing that seems typical for the Jets where even the big, positive additions to the roster still come with some sort of unintended drama or headaches.
Despite Reddick's absence so far, the Jets do expect him to attend mandatory minicamp and training camp.
Assuming he is there and on the field at the start of the 2024 season, he figures to be a huge help for the Jets' pass rush. He is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons with the Eagles and has recorded at least 11 sacks in four consecutive seasons.
Linebacker Bryce Huff (10) is the only player on the Jets defense that had more than 7.5 sacks during the 2023 season.
