Basketball HOFer had extreme response to Caitlin Clark flagrant foul

Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman shared on Wednesday what she would have done if she were in Caitlin Clark's position when the Indiana Fever rookie was shoved to the floor during their game against the Chicago Sky on Saturday.

Late in the third quarter of Saturday's action, Sky guard Chennedy Carter made a jump shot and hip-checked the No. 1 overall pick to the hardwood before she could receive an inbounds pass. The play wasn't reviewed and was initially called a common foul.

It was later changed to a Flagrant 1 on Sunday following a league review.

Lieberman told the "Run It Back" podcast on Wednesday that she would've "punched (Carter) in the face" and told her to "f--k off."

"That would actually cure the problem because I've known Chennedy since she was in high school here in Dallas. She's a tough kid, she's a really good basketball player, she's gonna come after you because she's very physical, which is ok. But damn, where's Caitlin Clark's teammates?" "Lady Magic" asked. "I'd be pissed as s--t at my teammates if nobody came to my defense."

Lieberman pointed to Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky having an "enforcer" during his career and Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan having Charles Oakley during his early days with the Chicago Bulls.

"Honestly, this is bulls--t," the former point guard said. "Indiana has to be better. Somebody has to come to this kid's, I don't want to say rescue."

Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon (a Hall of Famer like Lieberman) issued a statement on Monday regarding Carter's actions, calling them "not appropriate."
