The Angels are looking at a lost season, and one of their leading players may be on the move before the trade deadline.
According to Robert Murray of FanSided, Los Angeles is open to trading outfielder Taylor Ward. The Angels are fielding calls on other players, but Ward is the most prominent name that might be moved.
Currently, the team's asking price for Ward and Jo Adell is high, but that price will likely come down in the weeks ahead. The organization will be looking to rebuild its farm system, which has little in reserve after a series of ill-advised trades in a desperate attempt to contend last season.
The 30-year-old Ward has been a clear bright spot for the Angels this season. He is hitting .253 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in 61 games.
The Angels are 24-38 entering play Friday, and Mike Trout is nowhere near a return. There is little reason for them not to maximize what they might get for their few valuable assets, as some teams could use some outfield help for the stretch run.
