WNBA betting: Now is the time to buy Caitlin Clark and the Fever

Flu season might be over, but you might want to check our temperature because we feel a serious fever coming on.  The Indiana Fever, that is.

Indiana, led by rookie phenom Caitlin Clark, has struggled out of the gates with a 2-9 record and the worst net rating (-16.9) in the WNBA, but now is the perfect time to buy the dip.

The Fever faced a brutally tough schedule to start the season. Indiana started the year with four straight games against the Connecticut Sun and the New York Liberty, which have the two best net ratings in the league and a combined record of 18-2. The Fever also had to play the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, the 6-3 Seattle Storm twice and the Liberty a third time. They've played only three games against teams with losing records and went 2-1 in those contests.

Indiana also played two separate back-to-backs over the last two weeks, and it's had more than one day off between games just once all season. The road is finally starting to ease up for Clark and Co.

After a grueling schedule to start the season, the Fever were given four consecutive days off ahead of their 85-83 victory Friday night against the 0-11 Washington Mystics. That improved their record to 3-9.

According to Tankathon, the Fever have the fourth-easiest remaining strength of schedule in the WNBA. The rest of the schedule also gets much easier for Indiana. The Fever will have two days of rest in between their next five games, and they don't have to play another back-to-back the rest of the way.

This team is only going to get better with time, and Clark will steadily improve as she starts to feel more comfortable in the WNBA. Indiana's softer schedule down the stretch will only help that cause.

The Fever's live win total is sitting at 13.5 at FanDuel, and we think this is the right time to buy the over at +102 odds. We're also going to sprinkle a few bucks on Indiana to make the playoffs at +280.
