Forward Jonquel Jones carried the New York Liberty on Sunday, helping them avoid an upset against the winless Washington Mystics.
In the 93-88 win, Jones registered a season-high 29 points, eight rebounds and three assists on an astounding 73.3% shooting from the field.

"Jones paced the Liberty with 15 of their 45 points in the opening half, connecting on a pair of 3s to help them lead after the first quarter," wrote Andrew Crane of the New York Post. "[Jones] continued to serve as the focal point of the Liberty's offense in the second half, but then [forward Leonie Fiebich] and others started to contribute."
New York also clinched a spot in the Comissioner's Cup final. On June 15, they will face the Las Vegas Aces in a rematch of the WNBA Finals.
The Liberty (11-2) are second in the Eastern Conference and have won seven straight games. Jones' play is one reason they've emerged as one of the best teams in the WNBA. Through 12 games, the former MVP ranks 10th in the league in rebounds (8.8) and fifth in field-goal percentage (54.6%).
If Jones continues to flourish, she could help the Liberty win their first championship. As of Sunday, FanDuel gives them the second-best title odds (+200) behind the Aces.
