Major news about Jon Rahm drops before U.S. Open
Jon Rahm. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Some major news about Jon Rahm broke on Tuesday ahead of the US Open at Pinehurst.

Rahm has withdrawn from the US Open due to a foot issue. ESPN’s Marty Smith reports that Rahm has an infection between the fourth and fifth toes on his left foot. The issue has Rahm in enough pain where he apparently does not feel he can compete to win the event.

The news may not be surprising to those who saw Rahm compete in the LIV Golf Houston event over the weekend.

Rahm shot a 69 in the first round of the LIV event in Houston on Friday. He played six holes during the second round on Saturday before withdrawing from the event.

You can see how much pain he was in:

The 29-year-old two-time major champion failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship this year and finished tied for 45th at the Masters. This is shaping up to be a bad major year for Rahm, who finished in the top 10 in three of the four majors last year, including a win at Augusta National.
