Bills' Von Miller reveals why he's 'a little bit angry' coming off knee injury

Bills edge rusher Von Miller was not the same player most fans were used to seeing last season.

The 35-year-old registered just three tackles and zero sacks while dealing with the lingering effects of his torn ACL, which he suffered in 2022. He even fell behind other edge rushers on Buffalo's depth chart.

As a result, many believe we've seen the best of Miller, who is entering his 14th season in the league. That has rubbed him the wrong way.

"It's crazy how you get injured, and you come back, and you really shouldn't have even been playing, and people judge you by a product on the field," Miller said, via SI.com. "I could have easily sat out all of last season, but I couldn't do my teammates like that. I felt like being later in my career, I didn't want to sacrifice any of my years. But at the same time, I shouldn't have been out there. I feel like people are judging me on that, so it's making me a little bit angry, to be honest."

Miller believes he has the chance to finally get back to his dominant level of play in 2024. That's exactly what the Bills are hoping for after handing him a six-year, $120M deal in March of 2022.

At first, it seemed like it was a good investment for Buffalo, as Miller recorded eight sacks and one forced fumble through 12 weeks, but then he went down with his injury.

Now with another offseason under his belt, the eight-time Pro Bowler has big goals for himself and his team.

"My biggest individual goal is just getting back to playing my style of football," Miller added. "...The biggest team goal is bringing the first Super Bowl to Buffalo."

Miller's best football may be behind him, but he still knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl, having won titles with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.

That's why head coach Sean McDermott isn't counting out Miller quite yet.

"First year off of an ACL is an uphill climb," McDermott said on former Bills center Eric Wood's podcast. "Now we're into the second year off the injury, excited to see what he can do, how he's moving and how he's gonna impact our team. You never count a player or a person like Von Miller out."
