The 2024 NHL Draft is being held at Sphere in Las Vegas, and it is a pretty historic moment for the venue. It is not only the first sports-themed event to be held there, but it is also the first live broadcast from the immersive, futuristic venue. It is quite a change from the normal draft setup that usually comes from the various NHL arenas it is usually held in.
Here are just a few of the scenes from the first round on Friday night.

Starting with the 2025 draft, the NHL will be moving to a remote draft setup instead of having all of the team personnel in one central location. They certainly went out in style with the current format by creating that sort of environment.
The San Jose Sharks had the No. 1 pick in the draft and selected Boston University forward Macklin Celebrini with the top pick.
It is the first time they have ever had the No. 1 pick in the draft. Celebrini has superstar potential and should be a key cornerstone building block for their rebuild.
