Sean Peyton provides important injury update for Broncos vs. Titans matchup

The Denver Broncos have to be breathing a sigh of relief after wide receiver and punt returner Marvin Mims Jr. left practice with a groin injury on Wednesday.

On Thursday, head coach Sean Payton revealed that the 5-foot-11, 182 pound wideout from Oklahoma is expected to return to practice after the weekend.

"On Marvin, good news, he'll be back to practice," Payton said on Thursday, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN. "We have a bonus practice Monday, and he'll be at work Monday. So, we're fortunate."

Mims is expected to be ready to go for the Broncos' Week 1 matchup with the Tennessee Titans on September 7, and that's big news for second-year quarterback Bo Nix and Denver's offense.

Heading into his third season, Mims has become a strong part of Denver's offense. He caught 39 passes for 503 yards and six touchdowns last season. He also helped the Broncos in the field position game as a punt returner.

He made his second-straight Pro Bowl as a returner in 2014 after averaging 15.7 yards per punt return.

Mims has been a starter on offense  this preseason alongside Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.

Nix is heading into his important sophomore season as an NFL quarterback, so having his full complement of receivers come Week 1 is going to be a big deal.

Mims was selected by the Broncos with the No. 63 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He as a first-team All-Big 12 player at Oklahoma for the Sooners.
