Every week, Kyle Busch's abysmal 2024 campaign seems to sink to new lows.
On Sunday, a pair of incidents — neither of which were Busch's fault - crippled the No. 8 team's day, pushing Busch further away from the playoff cut line with only five races remaining in the regular season.
Before Sunday's race at Pocono even started, the No. 8 team experienced an oil line issue, forcing them to forfeit their 24th-place starting position and drop to the rear.

When the race started, Busch's Chevrolet Camaro was once again off the pace, as the No. 8 was consistently running around the 30th position. With 40 laps to go, however, Busch finally found some semblance of track position, restarting 15th on Lap 121. Corey LaJoie made contact with Busch entering turn one, sending the No. 8 car spinning into oncoming traffic.

Busch's car was damaged beyond repair, relegating the No. 8 team to a 32nd-place finish they simply can't afford.
A ninth-place finish in Chicago one week ago may have stemmed the bleeding for Busch, but Sunday's crash re-opened the wound of what's been a career-worst season for the two-time champion.
Busch declined to comment on the crash to NBC, clearly frustrated with the move by LaJoie that ended his day.
Busch now sits 19th in points, 102 points outside of the playoffs with five regular-season races remaining.
