Did Jim Harbaugh take a shot at Ohio State's Ryan Day in Chargers video?

Jim Harbaugh is set to begin the 2024 NFL season as the head coach of the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers.

Harbaugh is known as much for his catch phrases off the field as his success on the field, an intricacy the Chargers' front office knew plenty about before signing the ex-Michigan Wolverines head coach.

One of Harbaugh's most famous catch phrases is viewed as an insult of Ohio State football coach Ryan Day, who took over for former national title winning head coach Urban Meyer in January 2017.

Harbaugh's original anti-Ryan Day blast occurred in 2021 after the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes, for the first time in 10 years, by a score of 42-27 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

After the game, Harbaugh took what is almost universally thought to be a shot at Day, saying, "Sometimes people that are standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't."

The comment came months after Day stated that Ohio State would "hang 100 (points)" on Harbaugh and the Wolverines in an offseason conference call.

On Tuesday, Harbaugh's new team, the Chargers, released a preseason hype video that included Harbaugh hyping up the team while once again sharing the anti-Ryan Day catch phrase he famously coined nearly three years ago.

"We want to compliment all who have earned the opportunity to get here and recognize the journey traveled, to now be playing at the highest level of football." Harbaugh says in the video which can be viewed below. "None here were born on third base, but rather had to work their way to first, then second, then third."

Harbaugh's Chargers are set to open the 2024 NFL preseason at home with a matchup against his former Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 10 at 7:05 p.m. ET.

The Chargers' first regular season game is Sept. 8, at home against Antonio Pierce's Las Vegas Raiders at 4:05 p.m. ET.
