Which top Orioles prospects are poised for major league promotions?

As the Orioles set their sights on the postseason, their top prospects could soon make their way to the majors. With their trade-deadline acquisitions, Baltimore — already a legitimate World Series contender going into Tuesday’s deadline — now has the best chance to secure their first championship since 1983.

Five players have already made their MLB debut for the Orioles this season. With top prospect Jackson Holliday back in the big leagues, here are four more young talents who could soon join him in the majors as the Orioles gear up for October.

3B/1B Coby Mayo

Mayo is a promising young corner infielder with a power bat, slashing .294/.370/.581 with 20 homers in 76 games for Triple-A Norfolk this season. Baltimore thinks highly of the 22-year-old, with general manager Mike Elias saying that “he's very close,” though his 27.7% strikeout rate might be holding him back. With third baseman Jordan Westburg headed to the injured list, though, Mayo could be the next Orioles prospect to make his big league debut.

OF Hudson Haskin

Haskin has drawn comparisons to George Springer as a toolsy right-handed outfielder. He was sidelined for most of last season with injuries, but still managed to work his way up from High-A Aberdeen to Triple-A Norfolk slashing .287/.394/.443 through 33 games across all levels combined in the minors. While his bat has cooled off some in 2024 — Haskin is batting just .217.333/.304 through 57 games in Norfolk this summer — he leads the Tides in stolen bases (15). If given the opportunity, Haskin could be the right-handed hitting outfielder who the Orioles have been searching for.

LHP Tucker Davidson

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde is a believer in left-on-left match-ups and after designating long-man Cole Irvin for assignment, Tides reliever Tucker Davidson is worth keeping an eye on. The 28-year-old southpaw has a 2.85 ERA in 23 appearances (eight starts) for Triple-A Norfolk in 2024. With 125 big league innings under his belt, Davidson is technically not a rookie, but he does have postseason experience and would be a solid lefty long-man for Baltimore.

RHP Nolan Hoffman

Sidearmer Nolan Hoffman struggled to begin his season in Norfolk, posting an 8.10 ERA in his first 13 1/3  innings. But the 26-year-old reliever has since posted a 1.29 ERA in 23 2/3 innings while striking out 33 batters. Hoffman also tossed 1 1/3 hit-less innings for the Tides in the first combined no-hitter in Orioles affiliate history earlier this year. His sidearm release could make him an interesting bullpen option for the Orioles should he continue to pitch at this level.

Promising young arms Cade Povich and Chayce McDermott — along with power-hitting outfielder Heston Kjerstad — have already donned the orange and black this season. These prospects, along with Holliday, form a promising group that could play a crucial role in Baltimore’s aspirations for a deep postseason run.
