Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has yet to clinch the starting job, but he made a solid case in his preseason debut against the Indianapolis Colts.
With the Broncos and Colts tied 3-3 and 4:52 remaining in the second quarter, Nix threw his first touchdown pass in the preseason, a one-yarder to second-year wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr.

Nix entered the game after fellow QB Jarrett Stidham started. On two drives, Stidham completed 4-of-7 passes for 37 yards, one interception and a below-average 32.1 passer rating.
The offense looked a little smoother with Nix. The 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft split reps with the first and second team, completing 15-of-21 passes for 125 yards and an excellent 102.3 passer rating. He also rushed for 17 yards on three carries.

The only negative play for Nix was when he nearly lost a fumble at the Colts' 21-yard line on his first drive.
Overall, Nix looked solid in his debut. He could keep making headway in Denver's second preseason game against the Packers on Sunday. Head coach Sean Payton recently said he plans to start Nix in this matchup, via Aric DiLalla of the team website.
