Ravens provide injury update on star TE following car accident

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was involved in a car accident on Wednesday morning.

In a statement, the Ravens said the collision occurred when Andrews was commuting to the team's facility, the Under Armour Performance Center. He was evaluated by the team's medical staff and didn't suffer any apparent injuries. He later attended team meetings.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported that the crash occurred at 9700 Lyons Mill Road and involved two vehicles that "sustained heavy damage." He added that Baltimore County police say no other injuries were reported, and the case remains open.

"I appreciate everyone's thoughts and well wishes," Andrews said in a statement released through the team. "This is a great reminder about the importance of wearing seatbelts and remaining alert while driving a car."

Andrews was scheduled for a non-practice day on Wednesday. The team said it expects him to return to upcoming practices.

Andrews — who is entering the second year of a four-year, $56M deal — is slated to play a pivotal role as one of quarterback Lamar Jackson's favorite targets.

Since being drafted No. 86 overall by the Ravens in 2018, Andrews has become one of the best TEs in the NFL, making three Pro Bowls and earning one first-team All-Pro nod.

Last season, the 28-year-old logged 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdown catches in 10 games before suffering an ankle injury that sidelined him until the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
