Brittney Griner lands top-5 WNBA overall rating on NBA 2K25

Amidst arguably the most-watched season in WNBA history, the new basketball video game NBA 2K25 is launching soon and the company has revealed their top-five players and their overalls.

Leading the pack, Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson received the highest rating a player can get, a 99 overall. She is a back-to-back WNBA champion and Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time WNBA MVP (2020, 2022) and a six-time All-Star. This season, the 6-foot-4 center is leading the league in points (27.4), rebounds (12.0) and blocks (2.9) per game as well as leading Team USA to winning gold and being named the MVP at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Reigning WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart is second at 97 overall and both Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier and Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas are tied for third as 95s.

Coming in as the fifth-highest-rated player in the league, Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner is a 94 overall.

Despite her missing the first 10 games of the season with a toe fracture on her left foot, Griner is quietly having one of her more productive seasons in the league. A WNBA All-Star this year, she is averaging 18.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game through 15 games (all starts).

Since being drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in 2015 by the Mercury, the Texas native has been a 2014 WNBA champion, 10-time WNBA All-Star, two-time scoring champ (2017, 2019) and an eight-time blocks leader amongst other awards and accomplishments.

All five of the players with the highest overalls were teammates on USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics that just wrapped up, with Wilson and Stewart leading the team to glory in the tournament.

Even though there could be arguments to be had over who should be placed where or if there are other deserving players who should be in the top five like Aces guard Jackie Young, Mercury forward Kahleah Copper and Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale, their and other players’ ratings will be revealed at a later time.

The worldwide release date of NBA 2K25 will be on Sept. 6
