Aaron Judge's home run plaque missing from Globe Life Field

It's rare for a team to honor an opposing player in their stadium. That had been the case for the Texas Rangers and Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge.

Judge had belted his American League record 62nd home run of the 2022 season at Globe Life Field. The Rangers, recognizing the historic significance of the blast, installed a plaque where the ball landed. As the Rangers' ballpark opened in 2020, it was one of the first historic moments to take place at the stadium.

That marker proved to be short-lived. Justin Shackil of WFAN 660 noticed that the plaque to mark where Judge's record-breaking home run landed has been removed. Commentors to Shackil's post on X claimed that the plaque was stolen and not removed by the Rangers.

Judge is having another historic season. He is one of five players to hit at least 50 homers in a season three times and is on pace to tie his AL record of 62 homers, which would make him the third player in MLB history to hit 60 or more homers in a season twice. His next historic home run could come at home as the Yankees finish the regular season with six games at Yankee Stadium.

Chances are, the Yankees would also honor Judge with a plaque if he does hit his 62nd homer at Yankee Stadium. It would be another history-making moment for the most storied franchise in Major League Baseball. If that happens, Judge's marker would not go missing as is the case at Globe Life Field.
