Patrick Mahomes sends savage message to Ravens TE after dramatic finish

In typical Kansas City Chiefs-Baltimore Ravens fashion, the 2024 NFL season opener came down to a dramatic finish in the final seconds on the last play on Thursday.

As Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely leapt in the air and came down with the would-be game-tying touchdown, the 6-foot-4 pass-catcher came within one toe from sending the game to overtime.

Initially ruled a touchdown, video replay showed Likely’s toe just out of bounds, ending the game and handing the Chiefs their sixth season-opening win of the Patrick Mahomes era.

Following the controversial ending, Mahomes couldn’t help but offer Likely some savage advice during his post-game news conference.

“It looked good from my angle on the sideline, but then that first view you saw, you could see the cleat (was out of bounds),” Mahomes told reporters. “So that’s a great football team and I’m sure we’ll see them again at some point in the playoffs. We’re happy with the win now. He’s just got to wear white cleats next time. That’s my advice for him.”

Likely owned up to his part in the play. He told reporters that he took full responsibility for costing the team the win and promised to get both feet in next time.

However, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson saw things differently, and he wasn’t shy about expressing where he stood on the controversial game-ending play.

“I thought it was a touchdown, still think it was a touchdown,” Jackson told reporters.
