The Philadelphia Eagles offense had a rocky start on Friday night with a couple of early turnovers and some sloppy play. But they finally broke through in the second quarter, and it was running back Saquon Barkley, their big offseason acquisition, scoring their first touchdown of the season.
With the Eagles trailing the Green Bay Packers, 6-0, early in the second quarter, Barkley was able to haul in an 18-yard touchdown from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles signed Barkley away from their divisional rival the New York Giants this offseason, giving him a three-year, $37 million contract in free agency. The hope was that he would be able to make plays like that and add another gamebreaker to an offense that is already loaded with stars at the skill positions.
His night got off to a bad start on Friday when he lost his footing and slipped in the backfield on his first carry, resulting in a five-yard loss. He made up for here with that catch to get the Eagles on the scoreboard.
Barkley was originally a No. 2 overall pick by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft and played six years with the team. When healthy he is one of the most impactful running backs in the NFL with his ability to run and catch passes out of the backfield.
