Kyle Busch's hot streak continues with strong run at Atlanta

Kyle Busch may be in the midst of one of the worst seasons of his NASCAR career, but it hasn’t been evident over the last four races.

Busch has arguably been the best driver in the sport over the four weeks, with finishes of fourth at Michigan, second at Daytona, second at Darlington and seventh at Atlanta (an average finish of 3.75, easily Busch’s best stretch of 2024).

Busch’s summer charge wasn’t enough to drag the two-time champion into the 2024 playoffs, but it has sparked hope that he can find victory lane and extend his own record of winning at least one race in 20 consecutive Cup Series seasons.

A lack of help late resulted in Busch being shuffled from the lead, but he looked like the Kyle Busch of old for much of Stage Three. The No. 8 could be seen giving big pushes and making big moves to make passes, indicating a renewed sense of aggression for a driver who's lacked firepower for much of the season.

With nine more opportunities for Busch to win a race, having momentum on his side is key, especially with the spotlight switched to the 16 drivers competing for the championship. Few eyes will be on Busch during the final nine races, which could bode well for a driver who’s had eyes on him this year for all the wrong reasons.

The No. 8 team may have found speed too late in the season to make a title run, but getting back into victory lane for the first time since June 2023 would do wonders for momentum going into a pivotal 2025 campaign.

Busch will look to continue his run at Watkins Glen on Sunday in the second race of the Cup Series playoffs.
