Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is inching his way toward becoming the first 50/50 player (50 home runs, 50 stolen bases in the same season) in Major League Baseball history, and he got a little closer on Tuesday night.
With the Dodgers trailing, 4-0, in the top of the fourth inning, Ohtani crushed his 48th home run of the season into the second deck in Miami to cut the deficit in half.
Here is a look at the home run.

That home run gives Ohtani 48 home runs and 48 stolen bases on the season, while he still has 11 games after Tuesday to reach the 50-mark in both.
He is one of just six players to ever go 40/40 in a single season, joining Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano and Ronald Acuna Jr.
None of them have ever gone 50/50 in a season. Perhaps even more incredible than that is the fact only two players in Major League Baseball history have ever hit 50 home runs and stolen 50 bases in different seasons in their entire careers. Bonds and former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Brady Anderson are the only two players to have accomplished even that. Ohtani is now within reach of accomplishing both in the same season.
The fact he is even this close is a testament to his greatness and how he is already one of the best players in Major League Baseball history. Keep in mind, next season he will be back on the mound pitching and should once again be one of the best pitchers in the league.
