An autographed Caitlin Clark rookie card has sold at auction for $84,000, setting a new record for the most expensive women's sports card.
The card, a Panini Instant one-of-one card, features Clark holding her Indiana Fever jersey shortly after being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The card was marketed as the first one to be her featuring her Indiana jersey.
The crazy twist to this story? The $84,000 price tag is more money than Clark will make this season on her rookie contract with the Fever.
Her rookie salary, according to Spotrac, is only $76,535.
Clark's first year in the WNBA has, in a lot of ways, exceeded expectations. She set a league record for most assists in a season, while helping lead the Fever to their first playoff appearance since the 2016 season, while she also averaged 19.2 points per game.
After a slow start to the season, she really started to dominate in the second half, while the Fever finished the season on a 19-12 run after starting the season with a 1-8 record through their first 10 games.
The Fever begin their WNBA playoff run on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET against the Connecticut Sun.
