To say New York Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen has impressed to start his NFL career may be an understatement.
The fourth-round pick has teamed with third-year star Breece Hall to carry the Jets rushing attack to back-to-back contests of over 100 yards on the ground. Gang Green recorded a season-high 133 rushing yards during the team's 24-3 "Thursday Night Football" win in Week 3 over the New England Patriots.
While Hall remains the New York's unquestioned starter, Allen has increased his workload in each of his three games.
The 20-year-old posted just one carry for eight yards and one reception for nine yards in Week 1 before racking up 33 yards and one touchdown via seven rushing attempts, plus two catches for 23 yards and another score, in Week 2. Allen had 11 carries for 55 yards and caught all three of his targets for 13 yards during the primetime victory against the Patriots.
With 141 scrimmage yards on the first 25 touches of his career, some fans are wondering how the Wisconsin product dropped to the Jets in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Allen made his opinion known on social media on Friday in a response to one follower's question on the topic.
Everyone wanted to see me run in my underwear to decide if I was a good football player https://t.co/npblJ6ykjf

The 134th overall pick notably opted not to run the 40-yard dash, either at the Scouting Combine or at Wisconsin’s Pro Day.
When Allen made that decision in March, some speculated that he wasn't fully recovered from an ankle injury that he suffered with the Badgers. He dismissed those rumors at the time and said he was "100%."
No I am 100%, but the time frame to properly train for the 40 and shuttles was too small of a window for me to perform the way I would have wanted to, due to my ankle injury. Sorry to all the 40 yard dash warriors but we’ll let the tape talk. https://t.co/vdUNQD181n
