It appears New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be a bit frustrated with Pro Bowl pass-rusher Haason Reddick as Reddick remains away from the team amid his desire for a long-term contract extension.
Per Jared Schwartz of the New York Post, Rodgers was asked during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" about how an anonymous NFL agent said ahead of the season that there was "complete disarray" around the Jets because of the "power" team owner Woody Johnson has given Rodgers.
"The vibe inside the building is terrible," the agent added about the Jets at that time.
"Just reading that headline there," Rodgers said, "it sounds like it was written by Haason Reddick’s agent. Former agent, I guess, possibly. In a way to disparage our great organization."
There's plenty to unpack here.
Before the Jets improved to 2-1 on the season via this past Thursday's dominant 24-3 win over the New England Patriots, a report suggested that the Reddick situation could be resolved either over the weekend or "early" this week. As of the time Rodgers spoke on Tuesday, there was no indication Reddick was preparing to report to the Jets ahead of the club's home game against the 1-2 Denver Broncos this Sunday.
Schwartz indicated via X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that "Rodgers took a not-so-subtle dig at" Reddick during the segment. Others wondered if Rodgers had revealed that Reddick parted ways with a previous agent at some point.
As shared by Matthew Postins of Sports Illustrated, Reddick has lost over $8M by staying away from the Jets from the start of training camp through September.
Only Rodgers knows, for sure, why he'd use Tuesday's appearance to mention the name of a player who thus far has shown no desire to give the Jets any type of discount to play for them since they acquired him from the Philadelphia Eagles. Unless Rodgers and Reddick are enjoying a laugh over Tuesday's development, it seems like the 30-year-old won't be helping Gang Green win games anytime soon.
