Caitlin Clark grabs another honor for historic rookie season

Over 40 games, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds, the only player in WNBA history to finish with that stat line, rookie or not. To put her year into further context, only 11 players have had a year like that in NBA history. 

Furthermore, Clark set several marks in 2024, capturing the single-season assist and first-year scoring records. Meanwhile, she became the first rookie to post a triple-double and reach 100 three-pointers. 

There isn't much else to say about Clark's rookie season that hasn't been utter already. It wasn't only arguably the most impressive first-year campaign ever but one of the best by a WNBA player in general. 

On top of that, Clark didn't just meet expectations; she crushed them despite an immeasurable amount of pressure. If anyone can relate, it's Los Angeles Lakers star and future Hall of Famer LeBron James, who recently praised the WNBA's new face. 

"I've been in support of her since day one because I remember myself going through that, and she has my support 100 percent," James told Esquire's Brian O'Keefe. "She's a transcendent player. And obviously we all saw that at Iowa, and I knew that it would translate to the big leagues."
