Watch: Colorado's Travis Hunter strikes Heisman pose during monster game

The Heisman Trophy is, in theory, supposed to go to the best college football player in the country. Through the first five weeks of the season it is hard to imagine any player being better and more impactful than Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter.

He demonstrated that once more on Saturday in a monster 48-21 win against Central Florida, again showing off his two-way skills.

Hunter also sent a message to Heisman voters by striking the famous pose following a second-half interception.

Hunter finished the game by playing over 100 snaps combined between offense and defense, making a huge impact on both sides of the ball. On offense, he caught eight passers for 89 yards and a touchdown, while on defense he logged a pass defense and the aforementioned interception.

The star junior now has 46 catches, 561 yards and six touchdowns on offense to go with three pass defenses and two interceptions on defense.

He is a legitimate first-round talent at either position and if teams view him as capable of playing both at the professional level, he could be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

As for Hunter's Heisman chances this season, the award is typically dominated by quarterbacks who play on a national championship contender — whether or not they are actually the best player in the country — and it very rarely deviates from that. Especially as it relates to defensive players and wide receivers. Hunter might be so good at both positions that he might actually have a chance to win it.
