By finishing with the best record in baseball, the Dodgers will have home-field advantage for the entire duration of their postseason. They and the Phillies have earned first-round byes.
As the No. 1 seed in the NL, the Dodgers are slated to commence their postseason play in the NLDS against the winner of the wild-card matchup between the No. 4 seed (the San Diego Padres) and the No. 5 seed (the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves or Arizona Diamondbacks).
In the AL, the Yankees and Guardians have secured the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively. Thus, they both have first-round byes. In the ALDS, the Yankees will play the winner of the wild-card series between the No. 4 seed (the Orioles) and the No. 5 seed (the Detroit Tigers or Kansas City Royals).
