Joe Flacco was called into duty for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and he was in great spirits after guiding his team to an unlikely win.

Flacco took over at quarterback after Anthony Richardson suffered an injury in the first half of Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was quite effective against a good Pittsburgh Steelers defense, going 16-of-26 for 168 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-24 victory.

The CBS broadcast interviewed Flacco after the game, and the 39-year-old quarterback had a gem of a quote about the quarterback he replaced. Reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala told Flacco that Richardson had admitted the veteran quarterback was cooler than he expected, but Flacco was not buying that.

“He told me his mom is eight days older than I am. There’s no chance in the world that he thinks I’m cool,” Flacco said.

Richardson did not return to the game, and his prognosis going forward was not clear. Flacco showed Sunday he can at least run things capably if he is needed beyond Week 4.
