Knicks not done making moves after Karl-Anthony Towns trade

Between the acquisitions of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, the free-agency signings of OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa and the contract extensions of Jalen Brunson and head coach Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks have had one of the busiest offseasons of any team in modern history.

And with three weeks until opening night, the Leon Rose-led front office is not done making moves. According to Knicks beat writer Kris Pursiainen, New York is "receiving and taking calls" on veteran center Mitchell Robinson, who will miss the start of the season after offseason ankle surgery.  

"Sources familiar with the situation say the likelihood of a deal is unknown but the team seems to be willing to make another move after the blockbuster add of Karl Towns," Pursiainen reported via X.

Robinson, drafted by the Knicks in 2018, is the only player left on the roster from the pre-Rose regime. The shot-blocking big man referenced the same after Randle was shipped off last weekend. His social media post also hinted at his unhappiness with the franchise as he posted a shrugging emoji with a caption that read "Longest Knick." 

While Robinson's impact as a rim protector has never been questioned, the 26-year-old has been far too injury-prone in recent years. After missing 23 games in the 2022-23 season, he sat out 51 games last year and took the court for only six playoff games. As such, the Knicks were likely exploring a trade for him even before they pulled off the big haul of Towns from the Timberwolves. 

With Robinson sidelined, the Knicks were expected to start the season with Achiuwa as the starting center. That changed with the acquisition of Towns.
