Jets' Aaron Rodgers addresses relationship with Robert Saleh amid rumors

Earlier this week, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh attempted to dispel rumors suggesting they were on different pages this fall. 

Rodgers again addressed his relationship with Saleh while speaking with reporters in London on Friday. 

"I think there’s some driving force to try and put a wedge [from] outside the facility between Robert and I," Rodgers said without specifically mentioning what that "driving force" might be, as shared by Brian Costello of the New York Post. 

Following last Sunday's disappointing 10-9 home loss to the Denver Broncos that dropped the Jets to 2-2 on the season, Saleh and Rodgers seemingly disagreed about whether the quarterback's cadence was at least partially to blame for New York's five pre-snap penalties during that contest. 

Former Jets quarterback and current NFL analyst Boomer Esiason later said he felt that "there is a major issue" between the two. Still, Saleh insisted on Wednesday he and Rodgers are "fantastic" heading into this Sunday's matchup against the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"We’re really good friends," Rodgers continued during his latest comments on Saleh. "We enjoy each other and we spend time [together]. Almost every day, I’m in his office talking about things and talking about the energy of the team, the focus of the team, what we need to get done, how I can help him out, how he can help me out. So we’ve got a great relationship." 

Saleh accumulated an overall record of 18-33 across his first three seasons with the Jets and presumably was already on the hot seat even before the past week's events. Surprisingly, the Jets were recently named as a potential landing spot for former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick is expected to return to the sidelines in 2025. 

"Pressure? In New York? You could be an expansion team, and it's the same amount of pressure," Saleh said on Friday, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "It doesn't matter. You have to win. It's New York; the expectation is to win. When you win, you're going to the Super Bowl. When you lose, fire everybody."

The "fire everybody" rumblings could grow louder if the Jets fall to 2-3 on Sunday. 

As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed Gang Green as a 2.5-point underdog against Minnesota.
