Victor Wembanyama is apparently a big fan of his fellow Rookie of the Year.
In a video feature that was released on Friday, the San Antonio Spurs star Wembanyama was asked to name a player in the WNBA who inspires him. Wembanyama landed on Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark.
“When she was in college, [she was] the only player that I was really in awe of the game [of],” said Wembanyama of Clark. “Men’s and women’s college basketball [combined], she’s probably the most impressive I’ve seen.”

Wembanyama, 20, and Clark, 22, are easily the hottest phenoms in their respective leagues. Both players were No. 1 overall picks in 2023, and both players went on to win Rookie of the Year on the strength of mind-bending debut seasons (21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game for Wemby and 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists a game for Clark).
As such, it is fitting that Wembanyama has a lot of respect and appreciation for what Clark has been doing.
