Broncos HC Sean Payton compares Bo Nix to movie character Ferris Bueller

During the Denver Broncos' 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders there was a heated discussion on the sideline between head coach Sean Payton and rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Nix was visibly frustrated and giving Payton an earful.

Payton downplayed the incident during his news conference but oddly referred to Nix as a movie character from a 1980s teen comedy.

"There's still a little bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we gotta get rid of," Payton said. "Talkin' about Bo, and I love him to death. Sometimes it's my love language."

The movie, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is about a teenager skipping school with his girlfriend and best friend and getting into all sorts of hijinks around Chicago. But how is Nix like Ferris Bueller?

"Ferris was kind of quirky doing his own thing once in a while," Payton said.

Perhaps Payton should continue to let Nix do his own thing because what he was doing was working against the Raiders. The No. 12 overall pick out of Oregon had his best game this season, going 19-of-27 for 206 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing score.

This is the second incident Payton's had with a quarterback on the sideline in the past year. Last year it was Payton doing the yelling at Russell Wilson.

Payton has a track record of showing displeasure with his players at times on the sideline. Drew Brees, who won a Super Bowl with Payton for the New Orleans Saints, recently went on record giving Nix advice on how to deal with Payton's coaching style.

"Be just as demanding right back to him," Brees said, per Fox Sports. "Sean likes that. Sean wants to see you confident and sure."

The Broncos are now 3-2 on the season and Nix should have a lot of confidence and momentum heading into a Week 6 tilt against the 2-2 Los Angeles Chargers.
