AC Milan lost 2-1 to Fiorentina in its Italian Serie A matchup on Sunday, but it could've won 3-2 had it successfully converted two penalties awarded in the game.
Defender Theo Hernandez and forward Tammy Abraham both missed spot kicks, but it turns out they weren't supposed to take the penalties to begin with.
TWO PENALTIES. TWO SAVES.

USMNT captain Christian Pulisic is Milan's sole authorized penalty taker, per manager Paulo Fonseca.
"Our designated penalty taker is Pulisic," Fonseca fumed to MilanTV post-match. "I don't know why the players changed their minds. I have spoken to them and told them this can't happen again."
It's unclear if Pulisic willingly gave up his assignment or was forced out by Hernandez and Abraham during the match.
The American is 10-for-10 in his career on penalties for club and country. He even scored a goal of his own from open play on Sunday, which makes the whole situation all the more confounding.

Milan sits in sixth place on the Serie A table with the loss to Fiorentina being its first in league play since Aug. 24, but its second straight in all competitions.
Pulisic will return stateside for the USMNT's October training camp, its first under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino managed Pulisic briefly at English club Chelsea in 2023.
