Watch: Bruins player accidentally slashes official during skirmish

The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers have developed quite the rivalry over the past couple of years, and tensions are always high when both teams play.

Things escalated a couple of times during Tuesday's season opener in Florida, and one altercation resulted in Bruins forward Max Jones accidentally slashing a linesman.

As Jones was engaged with Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues, he attempted to slash him only to miss and accidentally catch the linesman right on the arm.

Jones ended up getting a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. It is also possible he could find himself with a fine from the league. It is unlikely that he would get a suspension for that, but the league is probably not happy to see one of its officials take a stick to the arm like that.

The Panthers ended up winning the game by a 6-4 margin on the night they raised their first-ever Stanley Cup banner.
