The Minnesota Lynx have made their way back to the WNBA Finals for the seventh time in franchise history, beating the Connecticut Sun, 88-77, to win their semifinal matchup in five games.
The Lynx already have four championships in their trophy case, so they're coming into this WNBA Finals matchup with the New York Liberty as the favorite as it relates to organizational experience.
Meanwhile, though, the odds clearly favor the Liberty in this matchup. Per ESPN Bet, New York is a -290 favorite to win the 2024 WNBA title while the Lynx are a +240 underdog.
ESPN Bet also seems to believe that the Liberty have more talent on their side. Forward Breanna Stewart is the odds-on favorite to win Finals MVP at +110 while her teammate, guard Sabrina Ionescu, has +200 odds to win the MVP.
Stewart has averaged 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season and those numbers have held up through the playoffs with a 20.0/8.2/3.8 line. Meanwhile, Ionescu has averaged 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists in these playoffs, and that includes a 36 point, nine assist night against the Atlanta Dream in Game 2 of the first round.
On Minnesota's front, the 2024 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, Napheesa Collier, is a +260 bet to win Finals MVP. She had 27 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Sun on Tuesday evening, and averaged 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game during the season.
Game 1 tips off on Thursday from the Barclays Center in New York.
