The San Francisco 49ers lost their cool a bit at the end of Sunday’s Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and offensive lineman Trent Williams wound up paying the price.

Williams was ejected with just under three minutes left in Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The star offensive lineman threw a punch at safety Bryan Cook, though Cook appeared to swing first.

Officials seemed to miss that Cook started it as he was not flagged or penalized for his role in the incident.

Frustrations seemed to boil over for the 49ers toward the end of the game, which was a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII. Just before this incident, several Chiefs and 49ers players received offsetting penalties for a scuffle that took place after the Chiefs scored a touchdown to go up 28-12.

Williams has actually gotten away with this before, but he was not so lucky here. The ejection ultimately had no bearing on the outcome of the game as Kansas City wound up winning 28-18.
