New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich caught a lucky break on Sunday night after struggling up with his challenge flag.

The Jets were leading the Pittsburgh Steelers 7-6 in the second quarter of their game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Sunday night. New York had the ball at Pittsburgh’s three-yard line and tried to run it for a touchdown. Breece Hall got very close to the goal line, and the Jets were considering challenging the ruling that he was down short of the end zone.

Ulbrich appeared to ultimately decide that he wanted to challenge the call. However, he inadvertently dropped the flag and was unable to throw it as needed to call for the review.

Ulbrich’s Jets ran a play on 3rd-and-goal and scored on a pass from Aaron Rodgers to Tyler Conklin following a great fake.

Sometimes the best coaching moves occur when you just get out of the way and let them play. Ulbrich didn’t intend to get out of the way, but that sure worked out for his team on that play.

The Jets not only got the touchdown, but they also added a two-point conversion to go up 15-6 after that.
