The Nuggets and forward Aaron Gordon have agreed on a four-year, $133M extension, NBA insider Chris Haynes tweets. It will include a player option and a trade kicker, Shams Charania of ESPN tweets.
Gordon will opt into his $22.84M contract for next season, then receive a max salary plus bonuses, Charania adds.
He’s the second Nuggets starter to get a major extension this offseason. Denver locked up point guard Jamal Murray with a four-year max extension in September.
Superstar center Nikola Jokic is signed through 2027-28 with the final year including a player option. Michael Porter Jr. is signed through the 2026-27 season.
The Nuggets lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency in July and were intent to keep their remaining core intact. Denver needed to get Gordon’s extension done on Monday.
Gordon was eligible for up to $143.3M on a four-year extension, so the Nuggets managed to get the deal done somewhat lower than that figure.
Gordon has proven to be a versatile starter since he was acquired from Orlando during the 2020-21 season. He has appeared from anywhere between 68 and 75 regular-season games during his three full seasons with Denver.
Last season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while struggling with his shooting from deep (29.0%).
