Watch: Celtics players get championship rings, raise banner

The Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA championship during the 2023-24 season. On Tuesday night, they had a chance to celebrate one more time with their fans.

Before the Celtics kicked off the 2024-25 NBA regular season against the New York Knicks, Boston's players received their championship rings and raised their championship banner to the rafters of TD Garden.

First, let's take a look at the banner-raising ceremony.

Celtics players then received their championship rings in a pregame ceremony with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

The Celtics are bringing back one of the NBA's best rosters and figure to be serious favorites to repeat as league champions. The Celtics won the 2024 Finals by beating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.

The 2023-24 championship was the team's first since 2007-08, and just its second since the 1986 season. The Celtics have been one of the league's best teams for the better part of the past decade, but kept running into a ceiling in the Eastern Conference Finals. The homegrown duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown finally broke through with this championship.

It is fitting that the Celtics opened their season on Tuesday against the Knicks as New York figures to be one of Boston's toughest competitors in the Eastern Conference.
