Watch: Luka Doncic bamboozles Victor Wembanyama with early play of the year

Earvin Johnson was aptly coined "Magic" for his exploits in high school, college and the NBA. He amazed onlookers with "magical" plays nobody had seen before.

LeBron James and others have loosely referred to Luka Doncic as "Luka Magic," but the moniker hasn't stood out in respect for Johnson.

Perhaps the time has come for Johnson to pass on the nickname to Doncic, who, much like the Lakers legend, is a wizard on the basketball court.

During Thursday's Mavericks' season opener against the Spurs, Doncic made a logic-defying pass that even the slowest replays can't do justice to. While leading a fast break, Doncic drove to the rim, where he was met with the outstretched arms of Victor Wembanyama, who led the league with 3.6 blocks last year. Most players would have tried to draw a foul or recede from the play, especially with 19 seconds left on the shot clock.  

Doncic is not like most players, though. He had the wherewithal to find PJ Washington for a three on the right corner with a no-look pass, bamboozling Wemby in the process.
