Giancarlo Stanton is turning himself into quite the New York Yankees playoff hero.
He continued his 2024 postseason surge on Friday night by hitting his sixth home run of these playoffs by nearly sending a Jack Flaherty pitch to the moon, clubbing it 412 feet down the left field line.

The Yankees offense had been completely shut down through the first five innings before that at-bat, and it is fitting that Stanton was the player to finally get them on the board.
He has been one of New York's best hitters this postseason and helped fill the void that has been left by Aaron Judge's struggles in the No. 3 spot.
Stanton's time with the Yankees has been a little tumultuous at times due to injuries that have severely limited his availability. Even though he can no longer play the field or run the way he used to, he still has massive power and it has been on display in the playoffs.
He entered the World Series with an OPS over 1.000 for the playoffs and has been a consistent postseason power source since joining the team. His home run on Friday was already his 17th career playoff home run with the Yankees, moving him into fourth on the Yankees' all-time franchise list. It certainly helps that with the expanded playoffs teams play more postseason games now than they used to, but that is still an impressive accomplishment given that he has only been with the team since the 2018 season.
