Buddy Hield has made a hot start to life in the Bay Area. The veteran sharpshooter joined the Golden State Warriors this summer as they looked to plug the perimeter scoring gap left behind by Klay Thompson.
Hield has been a flamethrower in his first two games for Steve Kerr's team. He is averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 75% three-point shooting while coming off the Warriors bench.
On Friday, Hield made seven of his nine three-point attempts, taking his total over his first two games to 12. Shortly after the Warriors' 127-86 mauling of the Utah Jazz, their social media team announced that Hield had set a new NBA record for most threes with a team throughout the opening two games.

Steve Kerr has stuck to an unconventional 12-man rotation to begin the season, with Hield part of the bench unit. He has been a seamless fit into the Warriors' motion-based offense and has been feasting on the additional space he's found when sharing the court with Steph Curry.
Hield is proving to be the perfect replacement for Thompson. He is already knocking down his perimeter shots and doesn't require high usage to make an impact. Nevertheless, it's unlikely we'll see him move into the starting lineup this season, as some of the younger talents would be better served absorbing those minutes.
If Hield can continue to produce at his current level, he will likely find himself in the Sixth Man of the Year conversation. Having a 20-point-per-game scorer coming off the bench and knocking down threes at a league-leading clip is a rarity. The Warriors may have the steal of the summer on their hands.
