If you went to bed immediately following the conclusion of the primetime college football games on ESPN and ABC, you missed a heck of an ending in the ACC.
No. 22 SMU was on the verge of being upset by conference foe Duke on a walk-off field goal attempt with three seconds remaining, but the Mustangs blocked the kick and sent the game to overtime tied at 21-21.

SMU scored a touchdown on its possession in overtime, taking a brief 28-21 lead. But Duke responded with a touchdown of its own just a single play later.
However, the Blue Devils decided to roll the dice and attempt a two-point conversion to end the game right there and then. Quarterback Maalik Murphy rolled out to his right and tried to pass the ball into the back of the end zone for the win, but it fell short, and SMU walked away victorious.

There was a brief question of whether defensive pass interference should've been called, giving Duke another opportunity at the win. But no flag was thrown and SMU improved to 7-1 (4-0 in the ACC).
The Broncos are on the bubble to compete for the ACC title, lying in wait for either No. 9 Clemson (6-1) or No. 6 Miami (8-0) to falter for a shot at competing in Charlotte at the end of the regular season.
They now head home to prepare to host No. 19 Pittsburgh (Nov. 2), another undefeated conference foe hoping to eliminate SMU from its respective path to an ACC title and potentially the College Football Playoff.
