It may be early in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but a major incident has already shaken up the playoff picture.
Kyle Larson had a strong start to the Straight Talk Wireless 400 and was running second after the first round of green flag pit stops. However, his hopes of winning Sunday's race took a major hit on lap 47.

While running right up against the wall, Larson's right-rear tire blew out, sending his No. 5 Chevrolet into the wall and bringing out the second caution of the race. Larson limped his Camaro to pit road, with the carcass of the tire coming off his car as he entered the pits.
While there was damage to the right rear of Larson's car, he was able to continue, as the damage was not terminal, nor did it majorly affect Larson's steering or suspension.
Larson is no stranger to postseason adversity this season.
In the playoff opener at Atlanta, he suffered a hard crash early that took him out of the race. At Kansas, a flat tire relegated him to a 26th-place finish, while a myriad of issues at Las Vegas a week ago forced him to claw his way to a hard-fought 11th-place finish.
One year ago at Homestead-Miami, Larson pushed his car too hard entering pit road for a green flag stop and ended up hitting the sand barrels at the entrance of pit road.
Larson's path to a victory at Miami on Sunday — and an automatic berth in the Championship Four — just got much more difficult.
