On Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks lost their third game of the season, falling to the Boston Celtics 119-108. Doc Rivers' team was playing on the second night of a back-to-back, so tired legs likely became a factor down the stretch.
Nevertheless, Boston used its rest advantage wisely, pushing the pace and attacking gaps in the defense whenever possible. Boston's three-point barrage had its usual effect, too, stretching the defense to create driving lanes whenever it wanted to attack the rim.
Despite the Bucks latest loss, Giannis Antetokounmpo believes the gap between the two teams isn't as wide as some would believe. He noted how Milwaukee consistently plays Boston well, having split their season series in 2023-24.
"They've been around for years now, and you cannot replace that," Giannis said. "...Just knowing how to play for one another, sacrifice for one another, playing the right way...That's what winning teams do. Our goal is to get there. Right now, obviously, we're not there. I don't think we're far off...We played them last year, twice here, I think it was close games both times. Twice at home, it was not close games. We beat them by 20 or 30 both times."

The Bucks have been bounced out of the playoffs in the opening round for the past two seasons. Damian Lillard's addition has yet to pay dividends for the franchise, as the two-man game between him and Giannis is still a work in progress.
Nevertheless, it's worth remembering that Milwaukee is currently operating without Khris Middleton. When he's healthy and back in the rotation, the Bucks should have the spacing and tertiary scoring to make a surge up the conference standings.
Still, Giannis may need to accept that Milwaukee's current roster isn't good enough to win a championship. But that doesn't mean its not better than what we've seen in recent playoff performances. The Bucks are reaching an inflection point. How this season plays out will likely have a big impact on how things unfold either next summer or in 2026.
