The Carolina Panthers are sticking with Bryce Young at quarterback for Week 9.
Young began the season as Carolina’s starter but was benched by the team after just two weeks. Andy Dalton, who had been the backup, was named their starter in Week 3. Dalton started in Weeks 3-7 and led the Panthers to a win in Week 3 but losses thereafter.
Dalton did not start last week after injuring his thumb in a car crash. Although he returned to practice, per the team’s injury report this week, Panthers head coach Dave Canales told the media on Wednesday that Young will remain the starter for Week 9.
Dave Canales: Bryce Young will start again.
Andy Dalton is progressing, but Canales said he wanted to err on side of caution. "But also I'm excited for Bryce."

In his return to the lineup, Young went 24-of-37 for 224 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as Carolina lost to Denver 28-14. The Panthers have lost all five games in which Young has appeared this season.
Carolina will host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
