Longtime New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman had a classy gesture after his team once again fell short of breaking its championship drought on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a World Series title with their 7-6 win over the Yankees in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. After the game, Cashman went into the visitor's clubhouse to congratulate his opponent.

The Dodgers took a 3-0 lead over the Yankees in the World Series before New York won Game 4 at home. The Yankees then had a big lead in Game 5 before imploding with one of the most embarrassing innings you will ever see.

Cashman has been under increasing pressure in recent years. While he has won four World Series as the GM of the Yankees, the team’s last championship came in 2009. Fans feel that Cashman has not been aggressive enough in trying to win another title, and one decision at the trade deadline this year came back to bite New York.

Though it has now been 15 years since the Yankees last hoisted a World Series trophy, there has been no indication that Cashman or manager Aaron Boone will be fired. But the longer the Yankees go without winning another title, the more their previous championships will feel like a distant memory.
