Three potential suitors for free-agent shortstop Willy Adames

Bringing back Adames would be a huge first step for Milwaukee to stay respected as the best team in its division heading into 2025.

It's well known that Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos isn't shy to hand out long-term contract extensions, but will he go out and spend the big money in free agency?

Adames makes a lot of sense to solve the shortstop problem for the Braves after they got little production out of Orlando Arcia, who had one of the worst seasons of his career.

ESPN has named Atlanta as one of the best fits for Adames, which makes sense, as the club had an MLB-worst .618 OPS from the shortstop position.

Los Angeles Dodgers

As if the rich could not get any richer, the 2024 World Series champions have been linked to Adames and are believed to have the most money available to give.

The Dodgers got excellent production from Tommy Edman in both the NLCS and World Series, but signing Adames just makes too much sense.

If Los Angeles was to go out and sign both Adames and Juan Soto, whom it has also been linked to, it would undoubtedly propel its odds to repeat as the World Series champion, something no team has done since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000.

No matter where he ultimately ends up heading, the previous couple of seasons from Adames have likely earned him quite the payday whenever he decides to put pen to paper on a contract.
