New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye looked like a magician late in the fourth quarter against the Tennessee Titans Sunday.
On the final play of the fourth quarter at Tennessee's five-yard line, Maye evaded the Titans pass-rush before firing a touchdown pass to running back Rhamondre Stevenson.

While it was an incredible play, New England failed to capitalize in overtime.
The Patriots lost to the Titans, 20-17. Maye threw a game-sealing interception to safety Amani Hooker on a 1st-and-10 at New England's 41-yard line. He finished 29-of-41 passing for 206 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Despite the loss, the Patriots should still feel pleased about Maye's progress. The North Carolina product had completed 63.1% of his passes for five TDs and two interceptions in his first four games.
More importantly, the third overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft is showing he can improvise, a critical skill for a young QB on a rebuilding team.
The Patriots are 2-7 and probably won't make the playoffs. Still, they could have a bright future if 22-year-old Maye keeps proving he can make clutch plays in close games.
