Saints' Derek Carr makes unwanted NFL history in loss to Panthers

The New Orleans Saints fell 23-22 to the division-rival Carolina Panthers on Sunday. It's only the third career win for Carolina quarterback Bryce Young.

But, believe it or not, the loss was history-making for the man under center for New Orleans.

Derek Carr became the first player in NFL history to lose to 31 different teams in his career.

Entering Week 9, Carr was in a tie with nine other all-time passers who had lost to 30 different squads in their careers, per Pro-Football-Reference.

That list includes Drew Bledsoe, Brett Favre, Jon Kitna, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, Alex Smith, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan.

Now, Carr holds the top spot all on his own but he actually has an opportunity to complete the unwanted NFL round-robin if he and New Orleans were to lose to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 17.

There are only two active quarterbacks who could take Carr's previous spot, now a tie for second place, with losses to certain teams this season.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has never lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers (def. 21-17 Week 5), the Cincinnati Bengals (Dec. 9) or, naturally, Dallas.

Pittsburgh's Russell Wilson could join Carr in first place with losses to both the Cleveland Browns (Nov. 21 and Dec. 8) and the Philadelphia Eagles (Dec. 15).

Wilson has also never lost to Pittsburgh thanks to his time as a Seattle Seahawk and Denver Bronco.
